Mobile crypto checkout needs a usable route between the shop and the customer’s wallet on the same phone. A QR code helps in the right setup, but it cannot be the only understandable instruction. DROPS provides a payment QR, separate address and amount copying, and an order reference, giving customers practical ways to use the current payment request without transcribing it by hand.

Recognise the same-phone problem

A customer browsing on a laptop can point a phone camera at the screen. A customer already shopping on their phone needs another supported way to move the payment details into their wallet. Some wallets can work with saved images or payment links, but that behaviour varies; do not make it the only path you explain.

Keep the asset name and amount visible as text. Let the customer distinguish the address from the amount and the order reference. The payment screen should make sense before they open another app.

DROPS has separate copy controls for those values. Do not advertise a universal “open wallet” button or automatic handoff to every wallet: that is a different capability and needs its own verification.

Walk through the handoff without sending money

Use a safe demonstration to inspect the screens and controls. A copy-and-return review does not require funding a transaction.

Step Customer needs to understand What to inspect
Open payment instructions Which order and asset this request belongs to Visible order reference and BTC/XMR label
Copy the destination Which value was copied Address control and confirmation
Read or copy the amount Exact amount and asset unit Separate amount control and readable decimals
Move to the wallet How to follow that wallet’s supported entry method The actual device and wallet experience
Return to the shop Where to check the order A clear route to the current order status

Payment links can be useful where a particular shop and wallet support them. Treat that as an evaluation question rather than assuming every phone recognises every link format.

Write instructions for the interruption

A fictional customer copies the address, opens their wallet and is interrupted by a call. When they return, they need to know whether they are still looking at the correct order and current instructions. “Pay now” alone does not answer that.

Useful shop wording might say: “Use the current address and amount shown for this order. After following your wallet’s payment steps, return here to check the order status.” Add the actual quote-validity explanation if the request has one.

The customer should not interpret a successful copy action as a payment. Nor should returning from a wallet automatically be described as proof that funds arrived. DROPS payment status gives the team and customer a separate place to understand the result.

Make the details readable on an ordinary screen

Check the panel with enlarged text, the phone keyboard open where relevant, and the normal browser controls visible. Long addresses and decimal amounts should not cover the copy buttons or push the next step out of reach.

Use mobile checkout accessibility checks to review labels, focus and touch controls. Accuracy and convenience belong together: a control that is difficult to hit can make a precise payment instruction hard to use.

Support the order, not the customer’s secrets

When help is needed, start with the order reference and the point where the customer got stuck. Staff do not need a seed phrase, private key or wallet password to explain the shop’s payment screen.

The Bitcoin shop guide explains the value of current order-linked instructions. Inspect that complete phone journey in a demo, including the return to order status.
