Help a returning customer identify their previous selection, then check current stock, prices, packages and required eligibility. Convenience should come from relevant context, not an extra questionnaire about their life.

DROPS links customer records with orders and items, alongside catalogue stock, units and package choices. Use that foundation to compare the earlier selection with today’s menu. Connected records do not establish a native automatic-reorder or copy-cart feature; verify the actual journey.

Define the purpose before adding fields

Identify which previous details help the new purchase and which current facts need confirmation. OPC recommends collecting only information needed for an identified purpose. OPC limiting-collection guidance.

A previous purchase does not justify unrelated health, lifestyle or household questions. It also does not remove required product, customer, channel or transaction checks.

Separate reuse from recheck

This proposed worksheet does not claim every field is retained or automatically populated.

Information Useful role Current check
Previous order reference Locate the selection Confirm authorized access
Product and package Identify the item again Confirm active availability
Quantity and unit Explain the earlier choice Check current meaning and limits
Previous price Historical context where available Use today’s offer
Contact or handover details Reduce repetition where supported Confirm current accuracy
Eligibility information Support the approved process Complete current required checks
Extra preferences Separate defined purpose Do not require unrelated profiling

An earlier order is context, not permission to place another automatically. Document why each reused detail helps and how the customer controls the new selection.

Check today’s product and offer

Package meaning, SKU, price, quantity limits and availability can change. Similar wording does not establish the same amount.

DROPS supports named wholesale packages and quantity pricing tiers. Check the current package and tier rather than preserving an old interpretation. The wholesale minimums guide explains the unit decision.

If the selection is unavailable, explain the difference and let the customer make an approved choice. Do not silently substitute an item or imply the earlier price remains available.

Hypothetical example: a familiar package changes

A customer previously ordered two six-unit packages. The current catalogue offers a similarly named four-unit package. Two current packages mean eight units, not the earlier twelve.

The journey must make today’s package clear before the customer chooses quantity under the current offer and limits. The old reference helps explain the request; copying its quantity without checking units gives the wrong result.

These are hypothetical figures, not a customer record or automatic reorder demonstration.

Confirm identity and current details

Verify how the customer is authorized to view the previous order. A known reference, familiar device or similar name is not sufficient reason to disclose it.

Confirm reused contact and handover details through the approved process. An old address may be wrong for the current order. Review reuse and retention against the actual purpose, policy and requirements. OPC use and retention guidance.

Fast ordering does not bypass age, licence, identity, payment-provider or other required controls.

Test an unchanged and a changed selection

Use disposable accounts and synthetic orders. Verify authorized access and refusal for another account. Check current prices, packages, unavailable stock, quantity limits and changed handover details before confirmation.

Required eligibility checks must remain in the evaluated journey. Confirm no order or payment occurs before the authorized confirmation. Determine which steps the product supports and which require reviewed implementation.

Do not infer automatic cart copying, stock reservation or privacy enforcement from connected records alone. A staff-assisted process also needs these boundaries.

Make the next purchase clear

DROPS connects earlier order context with current stock and package controls. Use it to reduce repeated explanation while keeping the new selection accurate and under the customer’s control.
