When a cannabis shop discovers a disputed public claim, identify the exact wording, check its evidence and assign an approved correction. Track where the wording appeared and which replacements have been verified. A changed paragraph does not settle copies elsewhere.
DROPS gives this work a concrete foundation: product descriptions, units, prices and stock belong to the shop catalogue, while customer-linked orders identify the relevant items. Website and connected Telegram shopping share that catalogue. Check the approved product record first, then review separate pages and messages that may repeat it.
This method also applies to a nicotine-vape business’s administrative correction work. Cannabis and nicotine-vape promotion still require their own product and jurisdiction review.
Define what needs correcting
Separate a verified error from a disputed statement awaiting evidence. Record the original wording privately with its location and observed date. Avoid repeating an allegation in every public update simply to explain that it is disputed.
Ask what the statement asserted: a product fact, package meaning, availability, service commitment or another claim. Name the evidence needed and the person qualified to review it. A supplier’s assertion is a source to assess, not automatic approval to repeat it.
Keep individual customer correspondence in the approved private process. The public review reply guide handles that separate communication boundary.
Use one correction register
This original register is an owner-managed aid, not a native DROPS correction log.
| Entry | What to retain | Completion question |
|---|---|---|
| Original statement | Exact wording and observed date | Is the disputed claim identifiable? |
| Affected surfaces | Page, product record or approved communication reference | Where was it repeated? |
| Evidence status | Confirmed error, unresolved or supported with qualifications | What has actually been established? |
| Review owner | Responsible factual and publishing reviewers | Who can decide and apply the change? |
| Replacement | Approved wording and material conditions | Does it resolve the identified error? |
| Effective correction | Actual publication date and checked version | What is now visible? |
| Remaining copies | Known extracts or external surfaces needing follow-up | Which work remains open? |
Preserve enough context to explain the decision. Follow the applicable record-retention requirements rather than deleting earlier material merely because the live wording changed.
Review the replacement as a fresh statement
A correction can introduce another unsupported promise. Check its literal wording, overall impression, qualifications and intended audience.
Health Canada’s cannabis guidance addresses false or misleading promotion and other restrictions. Correcting an error does not make new promotional wording automatically permissible. Health Canada cannabis promotion guidance.
For nicotine-vape businesses, the separate Tobacco and Vaping Products Act addresses misleading vaping-product promotion, including the overall impression. Do not apply cannabis rules as if they resolve nicotine-vape obligations. Check the applicable federal and provincial requirements for the actual communication. Tobacco and Vaping Products Act, section 30.42.
Medical, safety and unresolved legal claims need appropriate qualified review. The register records that review; it does not supply the conclusion.
Hypothetical example: an incorrect support schedule
A fictional shop page says support is available every day. Its approved coverage schedule excludes one day, and a copied help message repeats the old wording.
The owner confirms the discrepancy, approves a factual replacement and checks the page after publication. The message copy remains an open task with a named receiver until its wording is checked too.
The register records both outcomes. It does not describe a customer result, automatic correction or guaranteed legal compliance.
Verify the changed scope
Inspect the intended customer view, including phone presentation and relevant connected Telegram views. Confirm important conditions remain readable.
Separate preparing a correction from applying it. Current DROPS catalogue-edit access also permits customer-account edits and wallet adjustments. Use the staff permissions checklist before granting that wider access for a copy task.
An external website or message tool needs its own publishing authority and verification. Shared catalogue records do not establish automatic updates to those copies or an immutable history.
