A useful sale category shows which items qualify, what the customer pays and what conditions affect the offer. Keep the selected pack and availability clear, and leave the normal catalogue easy to reach. Customers should not have to add items to the cart just to discover the real offer.

DROPS brings products, cart and order details into one buying path. That helps you judge a promotion by the full journey: the customer sees an understandable deal, selects the intended item and places an order your team can fulfil.

Replace vague discount language with a complete offer

“Up to half price” may describe only one item in a broad collection. It does not tell a customer whether the item they want qualifies. Put the useful facts on each relevant listing and keep category-level copy accurate for the products shown.

Here is an illustrative before-and-after example for a fictional replacement pack.

Element Confusing version Clearer version
Product name Orbit deal Orbit V2 replacement pods — pack of 2
Price From 3.50 Sale pack price 7; comparison price 8, where valid
Scope Everything reduced Selected Orbit V2 two-packs; listed choices only
Availability Hurry Available choices shown on the product
End condition Limited time Stated end date or accurate stock condition

The figures are illustrative. A reference price needs a truthful, supportable basis and must meet the rules applying to your shop. Do not create an inflated comparison price just to make a discount look larger.

Make the category match the promotion

Include only eligible products or label exclusions where customers can see them. If one colour is discounted and another is not, show the selected choice's price before the customer adds it to the cart.

Keep multipack and single-item pricing distinct. An attractive per-unit figure can support comparison, but the full required purchase price should remain clear. Explain whether a code is needed, whether a minimum quantity applies and whether offers can be combined.

Test those conditions in the actual shop. A promotion rule written in a banner is not evidence that checkout applies it. If the mechanism is not supported, simplify the offer before advertising it.

Use the sale to solve a specific stock problem

Decide why each item belongs in the sale. You might be clearing a discontinued colour, reducing an oversized range or making room for a revised pack. That purpose helps you choose a sensible quantity and review date.

Avoid discounting every item by habit. An illustrative item selling for 20 with a direct product cost of 12 contributes 8 before other costs. Reducing the price to 16 cuts that contribution to 4. The discount is 20% of the selling price, but the contribution is halved in this simplified example. Check your own economics before judging a campaign by revenue alone.

DROPS Private Reserve offers another merchandising mechanism: regular-menu spend unlocks selected premium products. Consider whether that fits the stock objective better than a straightforward sale category.

Keep the rest of the shop easy to use

Customers arriving through a sale should still find regular categories, compatible replacements and service information. A promotion is an entry point into the shop, not a separate maze.

When the offer ends, remove outdated prices from category text, product images and saved campaign copy. Keep the product page accurate for visitors who arrive later. Our product description guide helps keep the offer aligned with the item actually supplied.

Explore DROPS with one planned sale and a few eligible and ineligible items. Inspect the prices, choices and final order together. Build promotions customers can understand and your team can run with confidence.
